Our Mission:
Alpha Sigma Alpha is a women's organization dedicated to the purpose of promoting high ideals and standards for its members throughout their lives. Sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha emphasize the importance of balance in alliance with our four aims; intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development. Alpha Sigma Alpha provides opportunities through Sisterhood, Heritage, and Leadership & Service.

Our History
Nationally 

Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded nationally on November 15, 1901 by five extraordinary women at Longwood College, in Farmville Virginia. 

Alpha Sigma Alpha was accepted as a member to the National Panhellenic Conference on November 12, 1947.

Locally

The Zeta Iota Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha was founded at Stony Brook University on November 19, 1994.
It became the 4th nationally founded sorority on campus.

ASA challenges members to strive for their best intellectual development through every possible means.

ASA recognizes the important role good health plays in a woman's ability to achieve her goals.

Social

ASA provides a variety of personal, social, and learning experiences and opportunities that will build self-confidence and interpersonal skills.

ASA develops a commitment to the inner self, or self-esteem, and a belief or view of the world and the individual's place in it.
